What a proper assessment includes

  • A doctor you can find on the AHPRA public register of practitioners
  • A real consultation, in person or by thorough telehealth, not just an online form
  • A detailed history: symptoms, lifestyle, medical and family history, medicines and supplements
  • A physical examination where the doctor considers it necessary
  • Appropriate blood tests or investigations decided by the doctor, with results explained
  • A clear discussion of options, risks and alternatives, and time for your questions
  • Informed consent: no pressure and no commitment before you understand the plan
  • Ongoing follow-up and review, and sharing information with your GP if you agree

Avoid any clinic that skips these steps. You can check a doctor on the AHPRA public register of practitioners, and our consumer safety guides explain more.

AMPHA does not provide medical advice or treatment, and does not offer or arrange access to any medicine. A referral enquiry is optional and you remain free to choose your own doctor. AMPHA may receive fees for referring people to partner clinics, such as Third Spring Medical.
