Position statement: men's access to safe, doctor-led care

General information only, not medical advice. Please talk to your doctor about your health. In an emergency, call 000.

Australian Men's Performance and Health Association Inc (AMPHA) is a men's health advocacy association based on the Gold Coast, serving men across Queensland and New South Wales. We believe every man in Australia should be able to access safe, respectful care led by a registered doctor, and to make informed choices without pressure or misleading marketing.

What we support

Care led by doctors registered with AHPRA, who can be checked on the public register of practitioners.

A proper assessment for every person, in person or by thorough telehealth, including history, discussion of risks and alternatives, and appropriate blood tests or investigations where the doctor considers them necessary.

Ongoing follow-up and review where care continues, with information shared with a person's regular GP when they consent.

Clear, balanced public information that follows Australian advertising rules, with transparent fees and easy ways to complain.

What we oppose

Services that supply prescription medicines without a genuine assessment by a registered doctor, that skip appropriate testing or follow-up, or that use testimonials, guarantees and pressure tactics to sell health care.

Unregulated online selling of hormones, peptides and other substances to Australian men, which exposes people to contaminated or mislabelled products and legal risk.

What this statement is not

This statement does not recommend any medicine or treatment, and AMPHA does not offer, recommend or arrange access to any prescription medicine. Decisions about individual care belong with each person and their registered doctor.

AMPHA may receive fees for referring people to partner clinics. We disclose this openly, and we believe referral arrangements in men's health should always be transparent and optional.

Check a doctor's registration on the AHPRA public register of practitioners.
